Strategic Objectives
The Directorate’s strategic objectives are to:
- Develop and promote research, innovation and technology transfer;
- Empower staff to conduct, disseminate, manage and report research and innovation results;
- Enable the commercialization of research and innovation outputs for the benefit of the researcher, the University and the wider community;
- Develop appropriate facilities for research, innovations and consultancy;
- Develop and strengthen the training capacity of staff to undertake impactful research and innovation;
- Establish and strengthen systems for research grant proposal development;
- Enhance and promote dissemination and sharing of research, innovation and technology information and knowledge outputs through conferences, symposia, colloquia and publishing;
- Develop and strengthen the University’s capability and policies for research, innovation and technology transfer
COMMITMENTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF THE DIRECTORATE OF RESEARCH, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
- Ensure that academic staff in the University develop proposals for both internal and external funding
- Ensure resources are available for the achievement of agreed research performance targets
- Ensure academic staff participate in conferences, workshops and seminars
- Ensure development of infrastructure for effective research & innovation in the University
- Ensure that University research is conducted in accordance with the national policies, laws and regulations
- Ensure research outputs by staff are published in refereed Journals
- Ensure mainstreaming of the STI strategy in the University’s activities and programmes.
